🌟 1649 - A Queen Who Chose Herself

Queen Christina of Sweden abdicated her throne on this day, citing her refusal to marry. She left behind a crown to live on her own terms, eventually settling in Rome where she became a patron of the arts and sciences. Centuries later, scholars recognize her as one of history's most fascinating queer figures, a woman who chose freedom over convention.

🌟 1564 - The Poet Who Dared

Christopher Marlowe was baptized in Canterbury, England on this day. He became one of the most influential playwrights of the Elizabethan era, writing "Doctor Faustus" and "Edward II," the latter featuring one of the earliest sympathetic portrayals of a same-sex relationship in English literature. His work changed what stories could be told.

🌟 1935 - The Beginning of a Love Story

Writer and director Jane Wagner was born on this day. She is best known for her legendary creative partnership (and love story) with Lily Tomlin. The two collaborated for decades before marrying in 2013 after 42 years together. Proof that the best partnerships are built on both art and love.

💡 A queen who abdicated for freedom, a playwright who broke barriers, and a love story 42 years in the making. February 26 is a reminder that living authentically has always been an act of courage.
