After meeting with and interviewing John Duran, I was truly blown away with all of the service that he has given over his lifetime, and how much of an icon and pioneer and leader he has been for not only West Hollywood, but Los Angeles and California, and I was just very honored to spend time with him and to know him.
He's worked so hard and it inspires me to continue to do the work that I'm doing with This Week in Queer History and the Queer Yearbook. I see how much he has influenced over his life and the good that he has done. I think that's something that we all can find such great gratitude in for those people and to do half the things, or even to do one thing that could influence and help somebody else's life, is so incredible.
He's been doing it his entire life so I am just very honored to know him and also just grateful that he did all the work that he has done over his life. Truly grateful.
